The photographic series Behind Beneath Here is designed to help people think about their city in a new way. Passers-by hold signs pointing out otherwise hidden features of the landscape, historic sites, geographic and geological phenomena.

These images were all captured by photographer Ming De Nasty on Birmingham’s renowned 27-mile circular Number 11 bus route and feature in the exhibition Number 11: Know Your Place which will be installed in the foyer of Library Of Birmingham through the summer of 2024.
For the exhibition Prof Kathryn Moore and Dr Alex Albans have worked with Prof Carl Chinn MBE and staff at the Library of Birmingham’s local studies collection to write a narrative of these places, and select artefacts relating to them from their archive.
