2020/22
Exploring how teaching of English can be improved by using Stan’s Cafe’s rehearsal room techniques in the classroom. The Classroom Stage is a multi-year action research project supported by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s Teacher Development Fund.
Stan’s Cafe’s artists worked in residence at schools across Birmingham to share ideas of making learning more practical, imaginative, playful and fun. They were supported by termly Continuous Professional Development / Learning (CPD/L) days and termly sharing and support sessions.
Evaluation of the programme’s impact is ongoing, but so far there have been many reports of teachers growing in confidence in being more adventurous in their teaching and students responding with improved learning.
