We are often asked where the name comes from. Ultimately it comes from the fact that, when you need to think about – talk about or write about art, there are few better places to sit than in a greasy spoon cafe.

On Wednesday Michael put in a final request for something resembling a libretto for The Voyage. Today I had to deliver. After an hour of post-Pilot tidying and a few further hours of office work, I came to the familiar conclusion that, if the thing was ever to be written, I would have to retreat to a Cafe. I retreated and lo it was written. All hail the cafe.
