Eccentric loner Eric Smith has built an Erik Satie museum in his Birmingham bedsit. He enjoys showing imaginary visitors around his collection of Satie related treasures, narrating fake film footage of his hero and interviewing himself.
The boundaries between Smith’s interior world and the walls of his room are becoming very blurred and the questioning voices echoing round his head difficult to ignore. Ultimately Socrates may be the only person who can provide the answers.
Strange, dark and funny, Memoirs Of An Amnesiac is a biographical play about French composer Erik Satie and about obsession, delusion, identity and hero worship.
