Today I was privileged to meet the photographer John Blakemore in the photography department of Birmingham Central Library. He is a charming and engaging man who also happens to have spent upward of ten years of his life photographing tulips. It was fascinating to watch him with the expert library staff searching out particular photographs in his archives and, from his comments, gain some insight into how he works and what his interests are. Hopefully we will be seeing and hearing more from John in a few months time.
As an extraordinarily weak joke I was going to state that the photograph here is not one of John’s, but it’s so ridiculously far from looking like any of his photographs that it would be insulting to even make the joke – it’s in colour for a start.
