Billesley Weather

Education   Primary Education

This project with Year 3 in 2014 had a number of different strands. We began by creating a weather station in the playgroundwith a thermometer, wind speed gauge, weather vane and rainfall guage. We then created weather symbols and a Weather Board which was placedin school reception on which the children recorded their daily meteorological readings and forecasts.

Later in the term Iain Smith worked with the students to create weather poems based on their learning throughout the topic. Ana Rutter then came in to create colourful costumes. The whole project culminated in a performance of their poems, dressed in their weather themed costumes in the school hall.

A recording of the poems the children created can be listened to here on the Billesley Blog
