Of All The People In All The World: Switzerland and the UK

India Forum, Reitschule, Bern, Switzerland
15 – 31 January, 2011

Bern 2011

A repeat visit to the great hall of The Reitschule as part of the CESCI (The Centre for Socio-Cultural Interaction) India Forum. This is a charity that works in India with support from volunteers in Switzerland and is particularly concerned with issues around access to food, land rights and non-violent protest. Of All The People In All The World provided a focal point around which a range of other events, from talks to dance, took place. The show had more visitors than last year and Jack and Chris ran 21 workshops for schoolchildren. Visitors to the show included Stjepan, who was one of the local performers in the first world version of the show at the Theater der Welt festival in Stuttgart in 2005 and someone who saw that show also came by. As we travel with the show we are beginning to meet more and more people who have either seen it in another city or know someone who has. Maybe there aren’t so many people in the world after all.

Last year the cold was quite a challenge and we spent much of the time hiding in a heated cupboard to research and print before running out to weigh at the table. This year our hosts provided a heated shelter which housed the table and all the equipment. It became known as the hot dog stand and was a very welcome oasis of warmth.
