Merry Hill Shopping Centre, Dudley
February, 2004
Members of Dudley Borough Council’s Marketing Team had visited the show in Birmingham Cathedral and approached us excited about a collaboration. They were staging a touring Anne Frank exhibition in a vacant unit at Merry Hill Shopping Centre and, having seen victims of the holocaust weighed out in rice, they wanted us to make them a window display.
Excited by the chance to explore our show in a new way we agreed. Craig and Benny went up and set things up mixing World War II statistics with local interest stories. The display provoked huge interest with crowds three deep pushing up against the glass. Over 30,000 people visited the show in just four weeks.
Later we were approached by the Anne Frank Trust, who wanted to offer a rice installation element to their touring show. We made them an offer but nothing ever came of it; maybe they thought we would be cheap.
