Of All The People In All The World : UK

Avoncroft Museum, Bromsgrove

Tuesday 28 March (NE Worcestershire Cultural Compact Conference)
Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 April, 2023
Wednesday 5 – Monday 10 April, 2023

We were invited to present Of All The People In All The World at a conference for the new North East Worcestershire Cultural Compact at the Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings. The Compact brings together cultural, educational, heritage and business groups working in the Redditch and Bromsgrove districts with the aim of using culture to make places better. At the conference we presented a range of statistics about various organisations and activities already happening in the area to act as a starting off point for discussions. These included everything from members of community choirs to volunteers on Tardebigge Locks; from visitors to Wythall Transport Museum to artists presenting at pop up shopping centre galleries.

After the conference we all thought it would be a great idea if the show could continue at Avoncroft during the Easter holidays to be enjoyed by visitors to the museum. We were in the beautiful setting of the Guesten Hall where the main feature is the timber roof – which was once the roof of 14th century guest accommodation, before becoming the roof of a 19th century church before being rescued and moved to Avoncroft.

The show built on statistics gathered for the Cultural Compact including more statistics inspired by the local area before expanding out to explore national and international issues.
